Weekly Update: 9/10-9/14

Things to Know:

DODGE: We will be heading to Dodge on Thursday, September 20th from 8:45-10:45 a.m. Please make sure your child is dressed for the weather and is wearing shoes that can get a little dirty! We will be studying SOIL as an introduction to our Pebbles, Sand, and Silt unit in science. :-)

READING: Please make sure that your child is reading 15-20 minutes at home each night. Reading can mean many things: reading road signs as you're driving in the car, reading labels at the grocery store, reading ingredients in the kitchen, reading bedtime stories at night, and helping your child read "just right" books from the library or from home. Why is reading each night so important? Take a look:

FALL FAMILY FUN NIGHT: Looking for a fun family outing? Come to Somerset's Family Fun Night on Friday, September 28th! The festivities will begin at 6 and go until 8 p.m.

SHOE TYING: I will soon be retiring from my part-time job of "class shoe tying lady." ;-) Is your child still learning to tie shoes? This article has a great video tutorial on shoe-tying! (If over 6 million people have viewed the video, it must work!)

RULE REVIEW: Ask your child how he/she shows the following Somerset STAR skills at school:
