Weekly Update: 3/9-3/13

RAFFLE BASKETS: Baskets are now on full display in the entryway to Somerset! Our wonderful volunteers have put together some amazing baskets with the help of all of the wonderful donations from our Somerset community. Raffle tickets are for sale after school and anytime during school hours in the main office. It's a great way to take part in the fun if you are unable to make it to the upcoming Somerset Social!

SOMERSET SOCIAL: Come one, come all! The Somerset Social is scheduled for Saturday, March 14th. The Somerset silent auction is an adult-only social event and the school’s annual fundraiser. Donated items, services and events are auctioned off to raise money for the school. 100% of the proceeds are used for educational and enrichment programs, resources and equipment for the students. I hope to see you there! For more information, please visit https://somersetsocial.org/.

STELLA DIAZ HAS SOMETHING TO SAY: We kicked off our school-wide book club this week with the first 6 chapters of Stella Diaz Has Something to Say! Ask your child about what he/she remembers about this great read-aloud!

TIMELY TOPIC: With all the news of the novel coronavirus, it is hard for the young hearts and minds of our first grade students to really comprehend. Students are curious as well as concerned as they hear stories on the news and in the community. I received a helpful email last night from one of my favorite education resources, BrainPOP! about calming kid's fears in the midst of coronavirus. If you are looking for ways to discuss this tough topic with your child, take a look at their free video resources!
