Why Do We Fundraise for Read-A-Thon?

Every dollar raised helps bring incredible opportunities to our students and essential resources to our teachers. Thanks to your support, the PFG was able to fund these 5 initiatives in 2024–2025:

  1. Teacher grants that help educators get what their classrooms need most (video to learn more attached)

  2. New books & resources for the library

  3. Choir & musical instruments

  4. Field trip transportation

  5. Recess & art supplies

Be sure to watch the short video to hear directly from our Somerset teachers about how these grants make a difference in their classrooms—and why your participation matters so much! Message from Somerset Teacher About How Your Support Matters.

Easy Math Game to Reinforce "Sum = 10" facts:

Penny Plate is super fun! Using 10 pennies, your child will guess how many are hiding under the plate. (Example: 8 pennies are on top of the plate, so there must be 2 underneath, because 8 + 2 = 10)

Give it a try with your child at home:

Art for Kids Hub:

Students had a BLAST drawing seasonal pictures today from Art for Kids Hub. Looking for a fun weekend activity? Check out their channel!

Scholastic News Articles:

In your child's Take Home folder, you will find several issues of Scholastic News. Since we are a few issues behind and the new ones keep on coming, I sent them home as a way to rack up those Read-a-Thon minutes! Here are some ways for your child to make the most of them:
  • Click on this link to get to the Scholastic News website.
  • Under the "Subscribe" button, click on "log in as a student"
  • Use our classroom password: brig
