Day ONE was FUN (and day TWO was, TOO!)

Hello, first grade families!

I hope you have had a fantastic day. I just want to give you a quick update on our first days of first grade! Please read below for a brief rundown of our first 2 days and what to look forward to for the rest of the week!

Some things we learned:

-We learned each others' names.
-We learned 3 new songs and class signals.
-We learned arrival and dismissal routines and procedures.
-We learned how to properly use and store crayons and colored pencils
-We learned all about our "Star of the Week," Mrs. Brignac
-We learned how to use a "talking piece" at circle time!

Some things we did together:

-We went to music and gym.
-We read four new books
-We explored our outdoor play area.
-We began our calendar math routine
-We played "Buddy Bingo," Koseeki, and Pebble Pebble!
-We independently read for 2 minutes (Building that stamina!)

*POP QUIZ* Today we learned what it looks, sounds, and feels like to be a great listener. What does a great listener do with his/her...

Eyes?
Ears?
Brain?
Heart?
Hands?
Feet?
Bottom? (Even that helps us listen!)

If your child needs reminders, check out this poster we created after reading the book David Goes to School. We really helped David find success at school by fixing his mistakes!

I had such a great time today getting to know each and every first grader in our class! We have a fabulous group and I cannot wait for us to learn, grow, and have fun together!

Coming up on Day 3/4:

*We will go to Spanish!

*We will explore markers and "thinking pads"!

*We will learn how taking a break can help us refocus!

*We will learn our 4 classroom rules and start classroom jobs!

*We will learn (at least) 2 new games!

Check out some pictures from our first two days below! Thanks and I am looking forward to a great rest of the week! :-)
