Weekly Update: 2/19-2/22

100th DAY OF SCHOOL: Our 100th day of school will be on Friday, February 22nd. Students are invited to dress like they are 100 years old! (EASY tip: put a little cornstarch in your hair for instant gray hair!) Other ideas:

ALL SCHOOL BOOK CLUB: At conferences, you received a copy of A Boy Called Bat. Please see the following note from Mrs. Huettl:

We kicked off our All School Book Club with the reading of Chapters 1-3 on Thursday evening. Video links can be found on Facebook and they were also sent to all families via e-mail. All students were given a challenge to post a picture reading in their favorite reading spot to the Somerset PTA Facebook page. We will announce winners of this contest on Tuesday-so be sure to check out the video links!

Stay tuned for the video links on Tuesday afternoon as we dive into Chapters 4 & 5.

The book will be read aloud via Facebook Live on Thursday evenings and video links will be sent out on Tuesday evenings. Don't have Facebook? Don't worry! We will send out a video link the same evening as Facebook Live posts so you can participate as well!

The goal of this All School Book Club has many facets. This is an opportunity to get books into the hands of all of our Somerset Stars at no cost to families. This book club will also bring us together as a community as we read, discuss and enjoy this great story together over the course of the next several weeks. But my main goal is to instill the JOY of reading to our Somerset Stars and their families and I can't wait to begin this reading adventure with you all!

***APOLOGIES: Something popped up after school today and I was unable to read Chapter 5. Stay tuned for future readings...I am now signed up to read NEXT Tuesday! Thank you to the fabulous Mrs. Spinner for reading today!

SPELLING: Our next spelling test will be on Thursday, February 21st. Here are our spelling words for the week:
