Day ONE was FUN! (...and day TWO was, TOO!)

Hello, Second Grade Families!

I hope you have had a fantastic day. I just want to give you a quick update on our first two days of second grade together! Please read below for a brief rundown of our first two days.

Some things we learned:
-We reviewed (and learned 2 NEW) names! Welcome, Lamont and Nolan!
-We learned 4 new songs and class signals
-We learned arrival and dismissal routines and procedures
-We learned how to properly use and store a pencil, box of crayons, and colored pencils.
-We learned about reading stamina (We are up to 5 minutes!)
-We learned about each other by playing "Buddy Bingo!"

Some things we did together:
-We went to music and P.E.
-We read many stories together
-We went on a "Tour de Expectations" around the school. (See below about our school-wide STAR initiative)
-We explored new math tools
-We made our first CLASS BOOK!
-We created a list of actions that make up a great listener. Check out our "David" poster below!

**Pop Quiz** Today we learned our 5 class rules. Ask your child to recite the words and actions for each rule. Can your child name...
Rule #1?
Rule #2?
Rule #3?
Rule #4?
Rule #5?

If your child needs reminders, please refer to tonight's homework found in your child's backpack! :-)

We are Somerset STARS!

We helped our dear friend, David, become a better listener:
