I hope your child is loving 1st grade as much as I am! Thank you for sharing your child with me every single day. I feel so lucky to have such kind and hardworking students this year. Just a heads up, school pictures went home in red folders on Friday!
In math we started our new number corner for October. We will focus on number trees, story problems, writing equations, plane shapes!
In writing we read All By Myself and wrote about things we can do on our own.
In reading we read and discussed Flower Garden. We read chorally and we echo read. We also read Places in My Neighborhood. Students discussed places in their neighborhood.
In vocabulary we learned four new words. The words were pedestrian, passenger, eager, and assortment.
For community building, we read the story "A Wrinkled Heart" and learned that hurtful words and actions can put "wrinkle" on someone's heart that is difficult to remove. We choral read the following poem and discussed ways we can help unwrinkle hearts when mistakes are made.
