Things to Know:
Somerset E-News: It has come to my attention that some of you are not receiving the Somerset E-News. For some reason, the E-News can default to the spam folder of an email address. This email is sent out every Friday afternoon and contains information about special events and things to know. You can find the latest E-News HERE. If you haven't been receiving it, check that spam folder! We are currently working on fixing this so it won't happen anymore.
Book Character Day: On Thursday, our Stars are invited to take part in our last celebration as part of Read Across America month----a Book Character Day! In lieu of a Character Parade (as we did in years' past), we will be celebrating within our classrooms. Your child is invited to dress up as any favorite book character. Looking for some inspiration? Take a look at this link for some last-minute ideas!
Where the Wild Things Are
Diary of a Wimpy Kid
Fancy Nancy
Fly Guy
Students can also dress for non-fiction books! (Think: Soccer player, all yellow/red/orange for a book about the sun, etc).
Library Checkout: The amazing Sarah Garrett has found a way for students to check out books from the library safely! Please return library books after each weekend so your child can check out a new one on Tuesdays!
EPIC Class Code:
Take Home Books: Your child may have received a package of books a few days ago in his/her backpack. These books are yours to keep and meant to help your child become confident, more fluent readers! Here are some ideas on how these books can be used:
Read Across America Month: Don't forget to track those pages! You can access the link to track your reading pages HERE or on your seesaw announcements page every Friday. Here is our calendar of events for the month of March:
