Weekly Update: 10/23-10/27

Things to Know:

SPELLING: Your child will be taking his/her first set of spelling words home in Friday Folders. Each night, please make sure your child practices spelling by sorting and spelling the words. Here is an example of what your child's spelling practice may look like:

FALL HARVEST PARTY/COSTUMES: It just so happens that our fall party is on Halloween! Because it is such an exciting day for students, your child is welcome to wear his or her costume to school. Your child can either wear it all day or change into the costume after lunch and recess. (Please be sure your child's costume is school appropriate: no weapons or fake blood, please!) :-)

STAY HEALTHY! It's that time of year...Colds and sniffles are all around and hand-washing is more important than ever! In addition to the common sniffles, we have had strep floating around our room for the past few weeks. Please take time to review some little tricks of the trade for keeping healthy:

FALL BOOK FAIR: Our fall book fair is happening from November 13-17! Please take note: We are having new book fair hours in order to accommodate more families and to limit the need for parent volunteers. The new book fair hours are as follows:
  • Monday: 2-6pm
  • Tuesday: 7:15-11am, 2-6pm
  • Wednesday: 7:15-11am, 2-6pm
  • Thursday: 2-6pm
  • Friday: 7:15-11am

WINTER WEATHER IS HERE! Students were pretty frosty and soggy today after recess! It is important to get out that winter gear so recess can be an enjoyable time for everyone!
