I hope you are staying warm. Even though we are unable to meet at Somerset today, that doesn't mean that we can't exercise our brains and learn a bit! Here are some homework assignments that I would like you to complete at home.
Yes...I said homework. :-) I'll be looking forward to hearing all about what you learned on Tuesday!
SPELLING:
This week, we will be studying comparative endings. Take a look at a little video I made to learn one new rule about comparative endings:
- Tell someone about the short vowel rule for comparative endings.
- Can you figure out a new rule? What happens when a root word ends in Y?
- Complete spelling homework as usual and reward yourself with a game!(Click HERE to play!)
WRITING:
Finish this sentence (in your BEST handwriting) and underline the verb(s):
- Today, I ...
READING:
Read for at least 20 minutes and answer these questions. Tell your answers to someone at home:
- If it is a narrative (fiction) book:
- What is the theme of the book you chose? (acceptance, friendship, honesty, responsibility. perseverance, courage...)
- Why do you think that? Give at least one reason.
- If it is an informational book (non-fiction):
- What is this book mostly about? (Main idea)
- What details are important to the main idea of the text?
MATH:
Practice subtraction with these online games:
*Note: These games may not be i-pad compatible.
Way to go, 2nd graders!
I can't wait to see you back at Somerset! Until then, STAY WARM! :-)
-Mrs. B.
