Writing:
- This week the students listened to and discussed the story Mouse Views. Students learned about “zooming in on an object” and writing details about it. Students wrote “I Spy” clues based on a winter picture and had their peers guess what object they were describing.
Social Studies Update:
Our Studies Weekly Magazine will be The Geography of Our Community. Students will learn on Thursday about the physical and human characteristics, weather, natural resources and population of our communities around Somerset. Our Scholastic News magazine was “Stick With Love”. The magazine highlighted Martin Luther King’s message to make the world a better place. Our Amazeworks book for next week will be The Smallest Girl in the Smallest Grade.
Things To Know:
DODGE NATURE CENTER: On February 4, we will be going to Dodge to learn about birds. Our class will leave Somerset at 8:45 and return by 10:30. We are good on chaperones, but if you still would really like to attend just let me know!
CONFERENCES: Mark your calendars--winter conferences are just around the corner--January 29 and February 3 from 3 - 8:30. Here is the link to sign up!
PHONICS WORKBOOK: In your child’s backpack you will find a Magnetic Phonics workbook. We will be starting the 2nd volume in the last week of January. While the students completed many pages in this book, some may not be finished. Feel free to use these pages for extra practice at home. The books do not need to be returned.
