In Shared Reading this week, we read the fable "Seven Blind Mice." Obviously, mouse crowns were in order! :-)
Peek at the Week:
Want to hear about our week? Ask your child the following questions:
Math:
- Can you tell me about your new number corner calendar for the month of October?
Reading:
- What is a fable? Can you tell me about the books It's Mine! and Seven Blind Mice?
- Can you read the following sight words?
- as
- with
- his
- they
- I
- Can you read these short U words?
Writing:
- What friend did you write about this week? What do you like to do with your friend?
Social Studies:
- What does a good citizen do in our community?
- What are examples of RIGHTS at school? What are examples of RESPONSIBILITIES at school? (One example we review before leaving the classroom is that other classrooms have the right to learn, so it is our responsibility to walk quietly in the hallway.)
THINGS TO KNOW:
Indigenous Peoples' Day
To honor Indigenous Peoples Day on Monday, we are devoting one hour of school to learn more about the traditions and cultures of our native populations. We are fortunate to have a local Native American author, Art Coulson, visit our school and share more about his books and native traditions.
BOOK FAIR IS COMING!
Star of the Week:
Last week, I modeled what a Star Student presentation would look like and explained some of the fun things your child will be able to do during his/her Star Student week. When your child is an upcoming Star Student, you will find a letter and poster in your child's Friday Folder along with a message via email or Talking Points! Look below for more information:
