What's Happening in First Grade?

Ask your child the following questions to hear all about our learning this week!

Writing: 

• What animal are you researching and writing about?

Reading: 

• What are you WONDERING about the book you're about to read?
• Who was Lonny Johnson? What kinds of things did you learn about him?

Vocabulary:

• What do you know about the words hero, track, persevere, and respect?

Math:

• What numbers are even? What numbers are odd? How do you know?
• Are the following equations TRUE or FALSE?
• 10+1 = 8+3
• 4+4 = 5+2
• 15-5 = 5+5

Science/Social Studies:

• What did you learn during our question and answer session with Dodge?
• How did you spread kindness this week?

Vocabulary:

• What do you know about the words ordinary, extraordinary, exclaim, and astonished?

Math:

• What numbers are even? What numbers are odd? How do you know?
• Which numbers add up to make 20 in the following?
• 15, 0, 5
• 12, 13, 8
• 9, 10, 11
• 16, 4, 8

Science:

• What did you learn about animal tracks on your "field trip" with Dodge Nature Center?
