Happy Friday!
We've had a great week in first grade!
In math we have been working on counting by 5s, fractions (whole, halves, fourths), and telling time to the hour.
In reading we read The Stray Dog and focused on retelling a story. We also read the poem My Dog's First Poem where students practiced choral reading and finding rhyming words using sentence strips.
In writing we read The Family Book wrote a story about a special person in our families.
In Science we continued to learn about rocks & minerals. We sifted rocks into pebbles, gravel, and sand, as well as shook sand to separate the silt. We look forward to our rock expert visitor next week (Marley's dad, David!)
In Social Studies we learned about Veterans Day and met with our buddy classroom to make a thank you note to a veteran.
