Hello, again!
If you haven't noticed, we have had a super busy couple of weeks here at Somerset! Here is a glimpse of some of the things we have done this week:
Science! Students learned about a new material that is even SMALLER than silt- clay! We wanted to see what would happen if we mix clay with water. Naturally, the best way to see is to SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE the vial to a fun, cha-cha tune.
November calendars! Students are getting so good at writing their numbers!
Students enjoying a well-deserved dance break.
Our star student: Nico!
Mrs. Crider taught us all about "Dia de los Muertos" (Day of the Dead)!
Students decorated pictures of calaveras de azĂșcar ("sugar skulls") to celebrate.
Time for our technology party!
For election week, we played a spin on the game, "Fruit Salad." We called it "Election Salad!" Students learned and practiced the words election, ballot, vote, and candidate- all while playing a game!
Somerset Election! Our 4th graders put together a student-led election process where ALL Somerset students got to register to vote, check in, fill out a ballot, and even get an "I Voted!" sticker after turning in their ballots. It was so great!
Students really enjoyed the entire process. As one student said, "When I voted, I just felt SO grown-up!" :-)
Proud voters:
Talan brought in his 6 week old kitten for sharing time!
THE BIG DAY HAS ARRIVED! Students got to celebrate all of their hard work at our "WILD about Reading" assembly today! Take a look at how many minutes we read:
Our special visitor, "Rhonda the Reading Fairy" dropped by, too!
Master Boltz showing off his skills, as promised!
Wow!
Mr. Tinjum and Mrs. Bowman getting ready to rumble in their sumo suits!
Mary vs. Perry
We have some super readers in our class! The 1,000 minute club:
WE ARE (STILL) WILD ABOUT READING!!!!
:-)
