Weekly Update: February 27, 2026

Take a peek at our week:

Want to hear about our week? Ask your child the following questions!

Reading:

  • Can you read this book to me?

  • Can you read the following words to me?

  • Can you read and spell these Super Words?
    • found
    • around
    • good
    • now

Vocabulary:

  • What do you remember about these vocabulary words?

Math:

  • Can you solve these problems?

Writing:

  • The students listened to and discussed the story Best Friends Sleep Over. We explored how a character’s emotions can change over time, and the students wrote a personal narrative about a time their own feelings changed. They focused on organizing their story with a clear beginning, middle, and end.

Social Studies Update:

  • Our Studies Weekly magazine focused Timelines and how people and places change over time.  Our Scholastic News this week was “Chomp”. The students learned how scientists learn about dinosaurs by looking at their teeth. Finally, Mrs. K came for a Kindness Lesson and we also read and discussed the Amazeworks book Tomas Loves.

Things To Know:

SOMERSET SOCIAL:

A note from Antigoni:

This is an evite to join us for the Happy Hour before the social on the 14th.  This gathering is for parents of all first graders 🙂

The Somerset Social + Silent Auction is Somerset's biggest fundraiser of the year and an all around great time for parents to have a night out, meet more parents, have fun and support our Somerset Community!

Here are some details for you!

📅 Saturday, March 14, 2026
📍 Mendakota Country Club

This fun, laid-back, Adult Only evening includes great food, activities, and time to connect with other Somerset families. There will be a Silent Auction with fantastic items and, new this year, live music led by one of our very own Somerset parents.

With St. Patrick’s Day right around the corner, we’re encouraging everyone to wear a little green for a festive touch.

🎟 Tickets are on sale now!
If you purchase your tickets by midnight on Sunday, February 15 and enter the code earlybird, you’ll receive a discounted rate.

✨ First-time attendees receive a special 50% off ticket rate, making this the perfect year to join us if you’ve never attended before!

Social page and tickets: https://shorturl.at/kudow

Grandparents, aunts, uncles, and neighbors that would like to support Somerset are welcome to attend as well!

Somerset is a community built on inclusion. There is an option to sponsor other attendees, and if purchasing a ticket is a barrier, please reach out to somersetsocial197@gmail.com. We truly want all Somerset families to be part of this special night.

✨ First Grade Meet-Up!
Before the Social, myself along with the other first grade ambassadors, are planning a casual meet-up for all first-grade parents at Union 32 Craft House in Eagan at 5:30pm. This will be a great way to connect before heading to the event! This is really just a fun chance for all of us to meet and make some new friends before heading over to the big event!

Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions. I’m looking forward to getting to know you all and hope to see you on March 14!

Have a great day!
