Weekly Update: 12/4-12/8

Things to Know:

LIBRARY BOOKS: Students are now able to check out TWO library books. One should be a "just right" book that students are able to read independently, and the other can be an "anything-just for fun" book that they can read with help. Please make sure your child returns both books each week before our checkout day on Thursdays. Thanks so much!

SUPER E: This week, we met a NEW phonics friend...SUPER E! Ask your child what Super-E can do to words like "hop," "dim," and "at"!

FRIDAY FOLDERS: I am looking for more help for Friday Folders for the remainder of the school year. We have been so fortunate to have 2 lovely volunteers help out each week. If you are able to help lighten their load a little bit, please visit this link for a Friday date! Filling folders usually takes about 20 minutes and is a tremendous help during the school day. (P.S. It is also a great way to lend a helping hand on a day that you are signed up as a mystery reader on a Friday afternoon!) Thank you so much!

WINTER WEATHER IS HERE! *Sigh* Bust out the hats and mittens! It is important to get out that winter gear so recess can be an enjoyable time for everyone:

GINGERBREAD HOUSES! The winter season is an exciting time for elementary students! It is a tradition at Somerset for first grade students to make gingerbread houses with their 3rd grade buddies. We are scheduled to do this on Tuesday, December 19th from 1-2 p.m. with Ms. Gardner's class. Please visit this link if you are able to donate or attend!
