THINGS TO KNOW:
Gingerbread Houses! The winter season is an exciting time for elementary students! While we keep as much of the time focused on learning as possible, we do have some fun traditions that we love to sprinkle in throughout the weeks.
It is a tradition at Somerset for First Grade students to make Gingerbread Houses. We are scheduled to do this on Friday, December 13th from 1-2pm.
We are in need of donations and volunteers for this project. Please click on THIS LINK if you would like to donate or volunteer!
Thanks so much!
SHHHHH Secret: I will be starting a Kindness Countdown to winter break. Starting Monday, December 9th, each day we will pull 1 chain link off our countdown and do, make, create, or share something special! Feel free to ask your child each day what we do!
Too Many Apps! What are they for?: As a parent, I know it can be overwhelming when information is sent out in a variety of formats. We have several apps that you may be connected to, and here is how they are used:
Talking Points: This app is used when I have a quick notice that I would like to get sent out right away. Examples include: field trip reminders, questions about a pickup/bus issue, or to let you know something specific about your child that day. If you do not have the app, the message will be sent via text message. (I will not blast your text messages every day, I promise!)
Seesaw: This app is used for students to share their work. They will post photos of their writing journals each week and sometimes complete supplemental learning activities through the app. You can also access our morning announcements here. I will not be sharing any messages or photos through this app.
Most information specific to our class will be sent in our weekly update and communicated through this blog. The best way to communicate with me is through e-mail or talking points. Please let me know if you have any questions. :-)
